Scientific Python Workshop for Women

As prelude to PyDays Vienna and in the spirit of last year’s Django Girls event, we are proud to again offer a one day workshop for women, this time providing a beginner’s level introduction focusing on Python’s Scientific Stack.

You will get to know:

  • Quick Walkthrough of Python Prerequisites
  • Numerical Computations with NumPy
  • Vizualistations with Matplotlib
  • A bit of Data Exploration with pandas

Prior experience in some programming language, not necessarily Python, is required.

  • When: Saturday, 28 April 2018 09:00-17:00
  • Where: Festsaal TU Vienna
  • How much does it cost: nothing, it is free!
  • How to apply:

  • Food: Potluck-style, we provide drinks and we all bring food =)

  • Requirements:
    • Laptop
    • Familiarity with basic programming concepts
    • Additional details regarding technical setup and prerequisites will be sent out beforehand (and see below)


Although we do our best, please understand that due to limited resources you have to apply for this workshop using above form and maybe not all applicants will get a chance to take part.

Technical Setup

To prepare your working environment please install the Anaconda Python Distribution for Python 3.6.
