In Vienna everything happens 50 years later, …
but just 26 years, 2 months and 16 days after the release of Python PyDays Vienna took place. Following PyCons in the US, Slovakia, India, and more Austria finally witnessed it’s first ever Python conference. More than 150 people attended the 22 talks and workshops with speakers from France, Germany, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria. Reflectin Python’s diverse ecosystem, talks covered topics in automation, web development and (data) science. In addition, Austria’s first Django girls workshop and the coala and GitMate hackathon were to attend.
Preceding the conference was Austria’s first Django Girls workshop on the 29th April, a brilliant opportunity to getting the coding world to be more diverse. A week later, May 5th and 6th PyDays 2017 took place, hosted by Linuxwochen Austria at the University of Applied Sciences FH Technikum.
Python, being somewhat like the swiss army knife of programming languages, supports a wide spectrum of applications. This also reflected on the 22 talks and workshops that were presented. From automation to education to web development to (data) science and more.
What would a conference be without food and opportunities to acquaint yourself with other Python enthusiasts? Coffee breaks included great coffee, drinks sandwiches, Pizza by RedHat, lovely chats with fellow Pythonistas and the perfect cake for the occasion:
The booth in front of the lecture hall welcomed experienced python users as well as everyone interested in the language.
A big shout-out and thank you to the lovely sponsors, without whom this would have never happened:
Last but not least, we are very grateful for the support of our partners for hosting us:
